The moment the name Las Vegas is mentioned, imageries of entertainment, sheer opulence, and vivacity conjures up in our mind. The general Las Vegas Overview is synonymous with entertainment, lavishness and excesses.
This city of amusement, energy and moolah is situated in the middle of a desert at the southern tip of Nevada in the United States. It is like a green speck representing life in the vast dry spell of desert.
This glamorous and enticing city attracts over 35 million tourists and visitors every year round. This explains the city’s high number of hotel rooms, which counts to 150,000! All are of world class standards and sheer personification of luxury. In other countries they claim to have hotels erected near the major attractions of the city, however in Las Vegas hotels are the attraction!

Las Vegas can be compared with an enigmatic temptress who can make you disoriented for some time with her charms and concoction of beautiful sights of the glittering sky line, a sphinx, a pyramid, skyscrapers, a giant lion and a never say die night life! The skyline too has an interesting fact; the sky line of Las Vegas is made of buildings of other cities! No wonder the expression of a first time visitor to this city is same as a wide eyed child, left loose in a room full of bright coloured candies all by himself!
The world renowned casinos can give you the biggest kick of your life with their dazzling lights, mind boggling energy, rattling of the tables and slot machines, cry of hysteria or shouts of tremendous joy. It takes few minutes to get hold of yourself and the fast paced activities going around you, like someone has pressed the fast forward button of a life player system!
What comes as a surprise is that this sensational city of entertainment and money actually was a very humble and an obscure city, known only for its natural springs that was like an oasis of life in the dry and parched desert. The city was founded in the year 1905 but was conveniently asleep in the oblivion until the 1930s. In 1931 gambling was made legal and then started the process of makeover of the city, which has now taken its present form.
With its growing popularity, 1990s witnessed the mushrooming of enormous hotel complexes all over the country, each exquisite and exclusive in its own way, coming up with ultra lavish services to beat their competitors. The city has an assortment of world’s leading Hotels like MGM Grand with its lavish 5,000 rooms, the Bellagio or the newly inaugurated Palazzo known for their sheer luxury.
Entertainment is the middle name of this city! The city has some of the worlds best Casinos, Night Clubs, Topless Revues, Strip Clubs and Night Lounges. For some people the Las Vegas Overview starts with the casinos and end with the casinos, however, the city has also a fair share of city sized theme parks, amusement parks, play grounds, tourist spots, and much more.
The city is a land of winning and losing balancing each other, like its backwaters balancing the desert surrounding it. When tired of the energy and brightness of the city, a battered soul can find solace in the silence of the desert, to rejuvenate and to take on the city life head on! Las Vegas is an oasis of life, energy, entertainment, luxury, exuberance and money. It will keep growing with its hotels becoming taller, energy becoming intense and lights becoming brighter!
